2018-2019 HERE WE GO!
Parents-
Please make sure you do the two following tasks to prepare for the upcoming year!
1-Please add yourself to our Remind class thread. You can do this by texting @yardley5 to 81010. This will ensure that you receive all class announcements!
2-Send me an email to [email protected] so that I have your current and correct email address.
Homework Information
1-We will begin reading homework on Monday, August 20th. The students are required to independently read 100 minutes per week. They may choose to do 5 nights of 20 minutes, or 4 nights of 25 minutes and take Friday off. Each night they need to write a two sentence entry in their Reader's Response Journal. Specific directions, and an example, are found inside the journal. Their journals will be graded weekly on Monday and will include a reading score and a writing score. This means that the first journal is due on August 28th. Extra credit can be earned towards the reading portion. They will receive one extra point for every 20 minutes extra they read. (Maximum of 3 extra points per week.) I will send a reminder text message through Remind for this each week on Sunday night at 8pm.
2-Math homework will come home 3-4 times a week depending on unit schedules and the school calendar. I try to avoid Friday homework as much as possible, but it may happen a time or two throughout the year. If math homework becomes troublesome, you can log in to Think Central and access the help videos and tutorials. Directions for this can be found on the Resources/Web Links Page. I
3-Anytime we have a special project for homework, math homework will not be sent. I believe there is such a thing as too much homework.
